Today in class we discussed at length the parenting styles....Do we really have to be one or the other?? I am pretty permissive....as long as grades are good, no one gets into trouble...and the bedrooms stay relatively neat...what type is that???
Is this the authoritarian, authoratative or permissive thing? For some reason that sticks in my head....
I think I'm pretty laid back as a parent, but the kids might not agree. I place myself in a special cateogory because I am a custodial, childless (meaning I don't have my own biological kids) stepmom. I don't think that I necessarily parent the skids (step-kids) like I would my own biological children, but I also don't feel like I can - all of my parenting authority is derived from their father so my parenting must be tempered through him as well.
All I know is that I'll never be as good at this parenting thing as my parents were....

You do a great job with the kids. Remeber I'll be asking a lot of advice when Roo starts high school.
